Let us discuss the benefits of setting up auto payment with Utah Storage Center. From avoiding late fees to auction processes and even talking more with management, we have the information you need to be informed about the benefits of autopay!
The request for setting up automatic payments is everywhere. But what are the actual benefits of having auto payment for your storage unit here at Utah Storage Center? Let’s dive into why you might want to choose the automatic payment plan for your storage unit.
Late Fees No More
When you are already paying for rent for your self-storage unit, you do not want the extra expense of a late fee just because you forgot to make your payment on time or had a missed payment. The number one reason why having an autopay plan on file is to avoid late payments! Late fee costs can vary greatly depending on the contract but are typically about 20% of your monthly rent. For an average-priced storage unit in Utah, that’d be a $26 late fee (for a standard 10×10 unit) or $35 (for a 10×15 unit), and more for larger units. So the first tip is to ask about storage fees and try to find a storage facility that is reasonable about such charges.
Utah Storage Center, for example, only charges a total of $15 on the 6th of any month payment is late, which is well below many competitors. But even that $15 would still buy me a couple of much-needed Starbucks runs throughout the month. I would much rather have money spent that money on a treat for myself or a loved one than toward a late fee because I forgot to make my rent payment!
What Day Is It?
For me, personally, keeping track of the various due dates for my bills and rent payments can be overwhelming. Particularly during the holidays or summer months when my focus is on more exciting things than the responsibilities of everyday life.
For this reason, having automatic online payments set up simplifies things a lot and ensures timely payments, allowing my mind to be on other things rather than on due dates.
No Fear of Storage Unit Auctions
One common fear of those renting a storage unit is the question, “Will my stuff end up on Storage Wars on TV?” Well, the answer is no; we do not have those types of reality Television connections here. Hardy Har Harrr! But in all seriousness, the possibility of having your items sold at an auction can be a factor in renting a storage unit because the process is unclear.
Here at Utah Storage Center, in particular, we don’t like to rush this. Our auction process begins after rent is over 51 days late. During that time, the managers attempt to contact all late units via phone, text messages, emails, and snail mail to avoid the auction in any way we can manage. The perk of having auto pay set up is that you do not have the extra stress or hassle of wondering if your unit is behind on rent or what could happen to your stored belongings if it is.
Extra Contact from Management
If an auto payment fails for any reason, such as insufficient funds, outdated cards, etc., the property manager will contact you BEFORE the grace period (the 5th of the month) passes so that you have the opportunity to update your payment information. This will help you avoid late fees or being unaware that your unit is not being paid for on the first of the month like you believe it to be.
